01 Do the cards need a battery? +
No. Each card is completely passive — no battery, no radio, no charging port. The phone's NFC field powers the card for the fraction of a second needed to rewrite the image. Once written, e-ink holds it indefinitely with zero power.
02 Does every player need a phone? +
No. Only the game host needs a phone to set up and run the game. Once the cards are written for a session, everyone plays normally — no phones on the table unless a game mechanic calls for it.
03 Does it work without an internet connection? +
Yes. The connection between your phone and the cards is local via NFC — no internet, no pairing, no account needed to play. You only need internet to download new games from the marketplace or publish your own. Once downloaded, play anywhere.
04 Can I create my own games without coding? +
Yes. The visual editor requires no code. Define cards by dragging templates, assign rules in natural language, and test on your own deck instantly. For advanced mechanics — custom NFC effects and conditional logic — there is an optional developer mode with scripting.
05 What happens if I lose or break a card? +
Replacement single cards are available for €9 each. Every deck pairs with the app via serial number, so a new card integrates in seconds. The 2-year warranty covers manufacturing defects.
06 When will I receive my CastInk? +
Shipping is planned for Q1 2027. Hardware tooling and certifications (FCC/CE) are already underway; Kickstarter funds the first production run. We will publish monthly updates throughout the process.
